Inyo National Forest Schedules Public Workshops
for Route Designation and Travel Management
• In an effort to gather additional route-specific information from the public to use for analyzing the forest transportation system, the Inyo National Forest will be hosting a number of workshops in Inyo and Mono County. The workshops offer an opportunity to provide input on the opportunities and benefits as well as potential risks and concerns with individual routes being considered for addition to the Forest motorized transportation system.
• Who should participate in these workshops? If you use unpaved Forest roads and motorized routes to access recreational destinations, firewood gathering, remote trailheads, or just to get out and explore, you may have an interest in the process. Your knowledge of these routes will assist the Forest in making future determinations about the transportation system.
• Maps of some of the eleven geographic units being analyzed on the Forest will be available for review at each session. Participants will gain some experience with the process in order to provide meaningful input, and will be given tools to use from home or out in the field during the summer.
• These will be the only formal workshops hosted by the Inyo National Forest for this process until the end of the field season. All maps and tools needed to provide input on all routes on the Forest will be available on the website or on CDs by request. Input will be most helpful if received by October 20, 2006.
