SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Federal Recreation Lands Enhancement Act=20
(Title VII, Pub. L. 108-447) directed the Secretary of Agriculture to=20
publish a six month advance notice in the Federal Register whenever new=20
recreation fee areas are established.
The intent of this notice is to give publics an opportunity to=20
comment if they have concerns or questions about new fees.
The Northern Region currently offers over 140 other cabin rentals,=20
including guard stations and fire lookouts and over 226 fee=20
campgrounds. Many sites are often fully booked throughout their rental=20
season. Local public comments have shown that people desire having=20
these sorts of recreation experiences on these National Forests and=20
Grasslands. The fees proposed are based on local comparable markets and=20
are both reasonable and acceptable for these sorts of unique recreation=20
experience.
People wanting to rent these cabins, lookouts, campgrounds and=20
group camping sites will need to do so through the National Recreation=20
Reservation Service, at <A =
